About the Role The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Board of Directors guides the organization’s mission by providing strategic direction, fiduciary oversight, and governance to advance educational equity and workforce readiness for students attending historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), historically Black community colleges (HBCCs) and predominantly Black institutions (PBIs). The Chair leads board proceedings and helps drive sustainable impact through partnerships and prudent oversight. What You'll Do
- Lead board meetings, set agendas, and facilitate governance and decision-making in partnership with the CEO/Executive Director.
- Provide strategic direction and fiduciary oversight to ensure TMCF’s mission, programs, and budgetary sustainability are aligned with impact goals.
- Oversee fundraising, partnerships, and external relationships to expand support from corporate, nonprofit, academic, and legal sectors.
- Lead and participate in committees (e.g., Executive Committee) to address governance, risk, and strategic priorities.
- Represent the Board with key stakeholders and champion educational equity and workforce readiness. What We're Looking For
- Experience as a senior leader in corporate, nonprofit, academic, or legal sectors with governance and board leadership experience.
- Strong track record in fiduciary oversight, strategic planning, and financial sustainability.
- Ability to cultivate partnerships and secure new opportunities to advance the organization’s mission.
- Commitment to diversity, educational equity, and workforce readiness for students at HBCUs, HBCCs, and PBIs. Nice to Have
- Prior board experience and active involvement in philanthropic or educational organizations.
- Experience in fundraising, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
