Position Summary

Career Readiness Learning Objectives:

Critical Thinking- The student worker will gather and analyze information from the literature and identify appropriate solutions to existing problems. The student worker is expected to summarize and interpret experimental data and prioritize action steps.

Communication- The student worker is expected to improve writing skills by drafting project reports and/or manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. The student is also expected to attend workshops or conferences to present their results, which can further strengthen their communication skills.

Provide research and lab support in the Biomedical Engineering Department. The position is capped at 20 hours per week. The days and times required will vary based on project responsibilities and needs.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have hands-on experience with tissue culture and cell culture techniques, a strong background in chemistry or biomaterials, and practical experience with ANSYS simulation and 3D printing/additive manufacturing techniques. Experience with biomaterials characterization or medical device development is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

Biomedical and mechanical engineering background. Candidates must have completed introductory chemistry and biology courses and laboratories, as well as GU safety training.

Physical Demands

This position requires minimal physical demands, but applicants should be able to safely lift 50 pounds and sit and/or stand for extended periods.
