Job title: Biomedical Equipment Technician II
About the Role The Biomedical Equipment Technician II operates at the practitioner level, performing installation, maintenance, and repair of clinical equipment, including life support devices. Under direction, this role supports a preventive maintenance program and documents equipment changes and service actions to ensure safe and reliable operation across UCSF Healthcare and Academic Research System.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine and complex tasks related to installation, maintenance, and repair of clinical equipment, including life support systems.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance using specialized test equipment and participate in a systematic preventive maintenance program.
- Document introduction of new therapeutic and diagnostic equipment and track corrective and preventive maintenance actions and special requests.
- Serve as a resource to UCSF Healthcare and Academic Research System staff on proper operation and maintenance of clinical and/or laboratory equipment.
- Assist at other UCSF campuses as needed.
What We're Looking For
- 1-2 years related experience in applying biomedical and electronics principles in a hospital environment or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
- Knowledge of electronic circuitry, electronics troubleshooting, ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings.
- Maintenance skills in electronics, mechanical or electromechanical device repair; ability to read color codes on wiring and components.
- Working knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology; ability to read and follow written and oral communications; ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers, clinical/medical staff, and the general public.
- Proficiency with email, database management, spreadsheets, and word processors.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary; ability to function in sterile environments if necessary; good record-keeping.
- High school diploma required; background in electronics.
- Willing to assist at other UCSF Campuses.
Nice to Have
- CBET certification.
- Associates Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology.
- Experience with Radiology Equipment.
Compensation & Benefits
- IAP Level: Staff; target payout of $900, maximum of $1,800.
- Shift: Day; 8 hours; Monday - Friday, 10AM - 6PM.
- Campus: St. Francis Campus.
- Location: Fully On-Site in San Francisco, CA.
