Biology Instructor - Part time (Pool)

About the Role The Biology Instructor - Part time (Pool) supports the Central Ohio Technical College mission by delivering biology-related coursework in Ohio on a part-time, temporary basis. This role involves preparing and delivering high-quality instruction aligned with course objectives and institutional standards, and building a positive learning environment for diverse student groups. Applications are kept in an applicant pool and considered as openings arise. What You'll Do

• Deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with course objectives and institutional standards.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to support student learning.
• Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including technology-enhanced learning and online learning management systems.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate records of performance, attendance, and assessments in accordance with college policies.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation; advise and guide students on coursework and study strategies; offer office hours or virtual support as needed.
• Uphold professional conduct, academic integrity, and adherence to institutional policies. What We're Looking For
• Minimum Qualifications: Must reside in the state of Ohio. A master’s degree in biology, microbiology, environmental science, or a master’s degree in another field with the equivalent of 18 semester hours of graduate-level coursework in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff. Willingness to teach and communicate using a variety of instructional modes, email and online learning management systems. Commitment to meeting students’ learning needs and empowering students in their learning endeavors. Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the mission, values, goals, and objectives of Central Ohio Technical College. Requires successful completion of a background check.
• Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in the subject area. Previous teaching experience and experience with curriculum development and assessment. Nice to Have

• Pay is based upon level of education. Rates are available at https://www.cotc.edu/teaching-and-learning. The position is part-time and temporary, with an applicant pool maintained for 12 months. Open through hiring needs.
