About this role

We’re looking for a skilled BIM Modeler / Electrical Detailer to turn electrical design plans into accurate, coordinated 3D models and construction-ready drawings. This role supports commercial electrical projects by resolving design conflicts, developing prefabrication details, and ensuring field teams have the information they need for efficient installation.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain detailed 3D models of electrical systems, including conduit pathways, cable trays, equipment, hangers, sleeves, and penetrations.
  • Generate shop drawings, installation plans, spool drawings, coordination layouts, and prefabrication packages for field use.
  • Run clash detection and coordinate electrical layouts with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Review design documents and technical specifications to catch inconsistencies, installation challenges, and missing information before construction.
  • Work through BIM/VDC coordination issues with engineers, project managers, and other trades to develop workable solutions.
  • Incorporate approved RFIs, submittals, design updates, and field changes into project models.
  • Partner with estimators, superintendents, foremen, and installation crews to align model details with actual site conditions.
  • Develop models that improve prefabrication accuracy, installation sequencing, and field productivity.
  • Provide drawing updates and technical modeling support throughout construction.
  • Prepare as-built documentation and final model deliverables at project completion.
  • Maintain drawing accuracy and ensure all deliverables comply with project standards and specifications.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in BIM modeling, electrical detailing, VDC design, or a related role.
  • Required: Hands-on experience with commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to model electrical systems and produce construction-ready drawings.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Working knowledge of electrical installation practices, conduit routing, cable trays, equipment layouts, supports, and penetrations.
  • Experience with clash detection, BIM/VDC coordination, and multidisciplinary construction models.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of field installation requirements, constructability, and construction sequencing.
  • Ability to create accurate, coordinated models that crews can use directly for installation.
  • Prefabrication modeling and spool drawing experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • An associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent training and experience in BIM, drafting, electrical design, or a related discipline is preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Professional training and advancement opportunities
  • Steady pipeline of commercial electrical projects
  • Access to advanced BIM/VDC and prefabrication technologies
  • Experience coordinating complex commercial construction projects
  • Collaborative team environment
  • Long-term career development opportunities
