About the Role Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is seeking a Billing Specialist to manage the complete monthly billing process for approximately 10+ partners, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client guidelines while handling complex bills. What You'll Do
- Manage the complete billing process for approximately 10+ partners on a monthly basis.
- Review pre-bills for accuracy (rates, discounts, formatting) and edit/prepare invoices in a timely manner.
- Direct communication with Partners and Assistants; ensure adherence to client billing guidelines.
- Execute complex bills (split-party/multi-payor and flat fee task code billing).
- Send invoices electronically and resolve e-billing issues promptly.
- Maintain documentation of procedures, deadlines and Partner preferences related to billings.
- Alert management to billing issues and intervene as necessary.
- Research and respond to inquiries regarding all aspects of billing; run reports and create spreadsheets.
- Monitor WIP to ensure billing on schedule and identify inventory for potential write-offs.
- Support accrual information requests; act as point of contact when staff are out.
- Provide backup to team members and assist with special projects; cooperate with Collections to minimize AR issues. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of applicable experience in a large law firm.
- CMS Classic or Aderant Expert experience preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word; strong technical aptitude.
- Clear understanding of reading/editing LEDES files.
- Strong understanding of split-party/multi-payor invoicing.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multi-task; occasional after-hours work may be required. Nice to Have
- CMS Classic or Aderant Expert experience (preferred). Compensation & Benefits
- New York City salary range: $80,000 – $100,000 per year.
