We provide free, trusted, and accessible educational content that can support Ontarians of all ages, regardless of background, location, or circumstance. To fulfill our mandate, TVO delivers curriculum-connected resources through TVO Learn and TVOkids, offers Ontario’s largest online high school through TVO ILC, and produces journalism, documentaries, current affairs programming, and podcasts with TVO Today that help Ontarians understand the issues shaping their communities.

What we’re looking for

The Bilingual Interactive Illustrator is responsible for creating the look, feel, and audio effects of interactive projects consistent with editorial, artistic, intellectual, and technical quality standards with subject matter experts. We are looking for a talented and creative person who can produce fun, educational, and engaging content.

How you will make an impact

• Create, design and illustrate elements to present educational content and interactive elements
• Create characters, treatments, prototypes, and digital elements for educational content, such as TVO ILC course production
• Coordinate with developers to integrate digital elements into interactive pieces
• Regularly evaluate and make recommendations for improvement to existing creative processes and procedures, and understands global responsibilities common to all Illustrators
• Attend and participate in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for online content to determine functionality, user experience, educational content & pedagogy
• Assist in sketch storyboards and flow charts for interactive concepts from briefs and functional documentation
• Draw, scan, build, and animate course assets using Photoshop, Illustrator and other standard industry tools
• Design and source sound effects
• Recommend technology and development tools
• Participate in developing and deploying new processes and tools

As required, performs the following tasks:

• Presents concepts to internal teams
• Clearly documents processes and techniques
• Maintains and builds out standards and style guides for content production

What you will bring to TVO

• Full bilingual proficiency in English and French
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in illustration or digital design
• Working knowledge of digital art production using industry-standard software and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (ex. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.) and Microsoft 365 (ex. Word, Excel, Sharepoint, etc.)
• Industry certification or appropriate post-secondary education College or University (or equivalent experience)
• Experience with animation is a plus
• Experience with 3D art production is a plus
• Adept at handling constructive criticism and flexibility in making adjustments
