Location: Hybrid (1–2 days in office)

Contract Duration: 6 months (with strong potential for extension)

Overview

A top five bank in Canada is undertaking a major BI development initiative and seeking experienced BI Developers to support these efforts. These are hands-on development roles focused on migrating existing dashboards and reports to modern BI platforms within a financial services environment.

Role Overview

• Position: Power BI + Tableau Developer
• Primary Focus: Support the migration of dashboards from Hadoop to Azure/Databricks and transition Power BI and Tableau reports to the new environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Migrate existing dashboards and reports from legacy systems (Hadoop, Cognos) to Azure/Databricks, Power BI, and Tableau.

• Analyze existing report functionality and enhance visualizations during the migration process.

• Perform complex calculations using DAX (Power BI) as well as calculated fields and table calculations (Tableau).

• Prepare and transform data as needed (e.g., using Tableau Prep), applying a solid understanding of data normalization and denormalization.

• Collaborate with internal technology teams for support on Cognos-related queries.

• Ensure high-quality, performant, and accurate BI solutions aligned with business requirements.

• Required Skills & Experience

• Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on BI design & development experience.

• Core Tools: Proficiency in both Power BI and Tableau.

• Calculations: Strong experience with DAX, calculated fields, and table calculations.

• Database: Solid SQL skills.

• Migration: Experience with data and report migrations across data sources or BI tools.

• Domain: Background in financial services.

• Familiarity with data modeling.
