Job title: Beverage Manager
About the Role Responsible for managing the beverage operation to include the Terrace Grill, Beach Club, Crossroad Café, Member wine program, Member wine lockers and To/go deliver operations. Ensure a high standard of appearance, hospitality and service in personnel and cleanliness of bars, storage spaces and dining operations. Work in collaboration with the Director of Food and Beverage to hire, train and onboard employees. Control inventory of beverage against operating budget. Be present in the dining room during peak hours to support beverage sales across all dining venues. Work with the dining room staff and develop/implement beverage programs to increase member satisfaction. Position reports to the Director of Food and Beverage.
What You'll Do
- Manage and oversee beverage operations across multiple venues (Terrace Grill, Beach Club, Crossroad Café), the Member wine program and related services (to-go deliveries).
- Maintain high standards of appearance, hospitality, service, and cleanliness in bars, storage spaces, and dining areas.
- Collaborate with the Director of Food and Beverage to hire, train and onboard staff; manage recruitment and onboarding.
- Control beverage inventory against operating budgets; manage pricing; ensure par levels and purchasing.
- Be present in the dining room during peak hours to support beverage sales; work with dining room staff to enhance member satisfaction.
- Develop and implement beverage programs; grow member engagement with wine, education and events (gourmet wine dinners).
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for bars, wine program, wine lockers and beverage operations; ensure legal compliance for wage/hour and alcohol laws.
- Manage purchasing and receiving of beverages; review and approve invoices; submit purchase orders including glassware.
- Recruit, interview, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate bar personnel; build ongoing training programs.
- Plan and execute wine dinners and culinary collaborations; build relationships with members; handle complaints.
- Collaborate with CMAA to understand club operations; coordinate staffing, organization chart, and scheduling; conduct pre-meal meetings and daily pre-shifts; ensure accurate daily sales reporting.
- Work with the Director of F&B on organization planning and development; participate in meetings and trainings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years progressive restaurant/wait service and management experience; sommelier or wine program experience.
- ServSafe or Food Manager certification; willing to obtain if not already held.
- Court of Masters Level 1 recommended or WSET Level 2.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong inventory control and staff training abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Jonas POS system (administration).
- Technical skills to manage programs affecting the food and beverage operation; desire for future growth and professional development.
- Education/Training/Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver's License; high school graduate or equivalent; Food Managers certification (ServSafe or equivalent) or willingness to obtain; yearly growth in certification (TiPS, Cicerone, Sommelier, CMAA training, etc.).
- Previous Sommelier experience required; previous club, hotel, or similar experience; prior management experience.
