Job title: BESS Project Engineer

Location: Remote - Juno Beach, FL

Purpose: This contractor will be leading Battery Storage Augmentation Projects

Experience: 5+ years of relatable professional experience in engineering, consulting, or project management preferred

Hours: M-F, 40 hours per week

Length of Assignment: 12 month contract + strong potential for extension or conversion

Project Details

Have a fleet of battery systems so augmentation needs to increase. Several augmentation projects between 2025-2030. Employees in this role have the responsibility of planning and executing various energy storage projects. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, engineering oversight and consulting across cross functional teams to deliver a best in class product.

Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like:

• Prepares technical scopes of work for incorporation into contract documents.
• Supports projects from conception through execution working closely with preconstruction and construction project managers.
• Maintains familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas.
• Manage, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the work of professionals and Contractors.
• Function as SME in applicable codes and regulations for civil design and permitting-general and project specific.
• Review and provide input for: Hydrology study, Geotech report, Civil Design packages, SWPPP and SPCC documents for project specific compliance and accuracy and code compliance.
• Project Specific Scope development for Engineer On Record.
• Review and provide input for local and national code compliance for civil design.
• Apply sound engineering principles to a broad variety of assignments.
• Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems.
• Collaborate within and across business units.
• Prepare and present clear, concise, and competent reports, both orally and in writing.
• Travel to power generation plant sites if needed.
• Collaborates with suppliers to successfully integrate major equipment.
• Collaborates with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, improvement opportunities, and system integration and controls.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Identifies value engineering opportunities as well as emerging technologies prospects.

Preferred Work Experience:

• Engineering or project management experience, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Power electronics
• Battery storage system design
• Renewable energy engineering
• Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries, power conversion units and DC/DC converters
• Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
