Compensation & Benefits This posting outlines the comprehensive fringe benefit program available to employees of the Order of Saint Benedict. Eligibility generally begins on the first of the month following date of hire, with a variety of plans and employer-sponsored benefits. - Health Insurance: Employees are eligible for coverage on the first of the month following date of hire. The plan uses a Preferred Provider Organization Network; in-network care is discounted for employees; care received outside the network is covered but at a higher cost to the employee and the institution. The employee and the Order share the cost for this benefit.
- Dental Insurance: Eligible on the first of the month following hire; you may cover dependents; as with health, costs are shared and network discounts apply; out-of-network care is covered but at higher cost.
- Vision Plan: This voluntary plan offers coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses; discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are included.
- Life Insurance: The Order provides Basic Life and AD&D; coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount is 1.5x salary up to $400,000. You may purchase additional life and AD&D in increments of $20,000 up to $500,000. There is also a dependent life insurance package. Employer-provided life insurance in excess of $50,000 is subject to imputed tax.
- Vacation: Paid vacation is accrued based on FTE and years employed; maximum 240 hours; 100% time employees receive 16 days (0-10 years) or 20 days (11+ years).
- Holiday Pay: Ten official holidays are recognized; leased employees may receive additional holidays.
- Sick Leave: Full-time employees earn up to 9 days per year, pro-rated by FTE; sick leave is cumulative up to 720 hours; employees may use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members.
- Long-Term Disability: After one year, the plan provides 60% of basic monthly earnings to a maximum of $15,000 per month, payable during the benefit duration if the employee cannot perform usual duties. See plan booklet for details.
- Flexible Spending Accounts / Health Savings Account: Pre-tax plans to pay for IRS-approved expenses.
- Tuition Assistance - Prep School: A tuition assistance grant provided to a qualified child of a full-time employee toward meeting tuition costs at Saint John's Preparatory School; leased employees are not eligible.
- Tuition Remission - Employee: Tuition remission for full-time employees and spouses; eligible after six months; up to one undergraduate course per term (including summer) and up to 2 courses per year; leased employees are not eligible.
- Parental Leave: A three-week (15-day) paid leave will be granted for birth or adoption, pro-rated by FTE; new employees eligible after twelve months.
- Employee Assistance Program: Vital Work Life; free counseling for employees and immediate family; confidential; all contacts are a benefit from the Order.
- Retirement Program: Two 403(b) plans (Defined Contribution and Supplemental Tax Deferred Annuity) administered by TIAA; enrollment effective the first day of the month after hire unless you opt out. Includes a schedule of employer and employee contributions by year and a Roth option for the Supplemental plan.
- AFLAC Supplemental Insurance: A voluntary plan offering an additional level of financial protection for you and your family.
