About the Role

The Order of Saint Benedict is seeking a benefits-focused professional to coordinate and administer the organization's employee benefit programs, helping staff understand and utilize health, retirement, leave, and related benefits. This role supports the organization's mission by ensuring compliant, cost-effective benefits for employees and eligible dependents.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate enrollment and ongoing eligibility for Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Plan, and Life/AD&D, including employee and dependent coverage.

  • Administer leave programs such as Parental Leave and Sick Leave; manage long-term disability and other disability plans.

  • Partner with TIAA to administer Retirement Program (two 403(b) plans) and Supplemental Tax Deferred Annuity Plan; communicate plan details; enable opt-out.

  • Manage Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Account; support pre-tax payroll deductions.

  • Administer Tuition Assistance and Tuition Remission for eligible employees and their dependents; liaise with Saint John's Preparatory School as applicable; manage eligibility.

  • Coordinate Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and ensure confidentiality of services.

  • Provide guidance on imputed tax for Employer-provided life insurance over $50,000.

  • Support communications and updates to employees about benefits changes and plan details.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.

  • What We're Looking For

  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.

  • Experience with 403(b) retirement plans, TIAA, and Supplemental Tax Deferred Annuity.

  • Ability to explain benefits clearly; strong communication and confidentiality; detail-oriented; ability to handle sensitive information.

  • Familiarity with tuition assistance programs and tuition remission is a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate with departments and external providers; strong organizational skills; ability to manage enrollment cycles.

  • Nice to Have

  • Experience in nonprofit or educational settings; familiarity with IRS rules for pre-tax benefits; knowledge of imputed tax.

  • Experience with AFLAC Supplemental Insurance is a plus.
