Job title: Bench Hand
About the Role Bench Hand role focused on deburring and polishing molds for automotive tooling. Based in Auburn Hills, MI, you will maintain and repair molds, polish cavities to high finishes, and support production with accurate mold finishes.
What You'll Do
- Polish cavities to high finishes
- Draw polishing ribs
- Disassemble and reassemble molds
- Contour ejector pins
- Spot hand loaded loose pieces and parting line
- Spot cores, cavities, slides and lifters
- Bench and polish to A-2 finish
- Provide an efficient lineup for the next shift
- Maintain and repair molds
- Adhere to safety, ergonomic, and housekeeping standards
- Use measuring equipment to verify dimensions (micrometers, telescoping gauges, calipers, dial indicators)
What We're Looking For
- Experience deburring and polishing molds, using bench power tools (grinders, profilers) and measuring equipment
- Good communication, interpersonal skills, and written/verbal skills; intermediate computer skills; ability to multitask
- Knowledge of mold design and ability to identify parts from shut offs and master shut offs
- Knowledge of steels used in tooling and polishing traits; familiarity with polishing stones, papers, compounds, and SP finishes
