Job title: Behavior Intervention Assistant
About the Role Auburn Union School District is seeking a Behavior Intervention Assistant to support students with behavioral, emotional, and/or special needs in general and special education settings. Under the supervision of the school site principal and with oversight from the Behavior Specialist, you will implement interventions and help create a positive learning environment. This is a part-time, in-person role with hours from 07:55 am to 02:25 pm, Monday through Friday. The position is posted in-house with current classified employees having priority.
What You'll Do
- Work with students with behavioral, emotional, and/or special needs in general and special education classrooms and unstructured times.
- Monitor student behavior, implement interventions, and collaborate with the Behavior Specialist and designee to support individualized plans.
- Assist with maintaining a safe, supportive classroom environment during both instructional and non-instructional times.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma, AA Degree or 40 college units; two years or more experience working with school-aged children with behavior/emotional needs in an educational or organized setting.
- Experience with ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) teaching methodologies.
- College level coursework in child development, special education, or student behavior preferred.
- Ability to manage challenging student behaviors and maintain composure in demanding situations.
Nice to Have
- Additional college coursework in related fields such as child development, special education, or behavior.
