About this role
CoffeePeople Barista Application
BookPeople is dedicated to providing the community an inclusive, respectful, and engaging environment for the open exchange and discussion of ideas as diverse as the world in which we live. BookPeople is the largest independent bookstore in Texas. From our beginnings in 1970 as a small new-age bookstore in West Campus called Grok Books to our current downtown location, we have gained national recognition and become an iconic Austin destination.
Our slogan is “a community bound by books,” and we pride ourselves in expressing our individuality and diversity through staff curation and impeccable customer interaction. Our diversity is demonstrated not only by our voices in the store but by the books on our shelves. Our number one asset is our employees, whose knowledge, enthusiasm, and expertise are invaluable. We are known not only for our ability to help Austin readers find what they want to read now but also identify what they want to read next. These principles also apply to our cafe, CoffeePeople.
CoffeePeople serves a high volume of Austinites, not only through our caffeinated beverages but with our diverse menu that also offers teas, baked goods, and sandwiches. BookPeople hosts over 400 events in the store including author appearances, book clubs, school book fairs, storytimes, and local literary workshops. On top of our daily customers, many of these events that are hosted in the store also generate customers for our cafe.
