BAR Coach

The BAR Coach is responsible for driving student success by providing expert guidance and proactive support tailored to the Bar Exam. This role involves leveraging data-driven insights by monitoring student progress, facilitating course engagement, and conducting personalized one-on-one coaching. The Coach serves as a bar exam expert, staying current with exam updates to empower students to master complex legal skills and maintain the stamina required for success.

Compensation for this role is $40/hr.

  • Drive Student Engagement and Outcomes: Take accountability for the measurable success of assigned bar students. Proactively work to improve key metrics including student engagement, performance, confidence levels, exam preparedness, course satisfaction, and outcomes.
  • Proactive Monitoring and Outreach: Continuously analyze student performance data and progress using internal reporting tools. Translate complex performance metrics into personalized goals for students, making the Bar prep process feel manageable and iterative. Initiate proactive outreach to provide targeted guidance and follow up on ongoing student needs.
  • Guide Student Preparation: Help students understand their course, their assignments, and available Kaplan resources and how to best leverage them. Assist students—especially those with limited time or unique needs—in developing study strategies and prioritizing engagement with high-impact assignments. Answer student inquiries promptly and provide actionable advice on study strategies, exam preparedness, resources and time management.
  • One-on-One Coaching Sessions: Schedule and facilitate individual remote meetings with students to address academic hurdles, review performance, and suggest adjustments. Help students recognize and address common challenges such as test anxiety and stress to maintain peak cognitive performance throughout their preparation.
  • Bar Exam Expertise: Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the NextGen Bar Exam requirements, testing characteristics, NCBE updates, and scoring rubrics. Continuously develop proficiency to better support student inquiries.
  • Facilitate Live Engagement: Promote attendance at live instructional seminars. Actively participate in these events by moderating and answering student Q&A.
  • Gather and Share Feedback and Testimonials: Track and share feedback from students, particularly on content and course resources. Gather testimonials for the marketing and sales teams.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • 1+ years coaching, tutoring or teaching (law-related preferred but not required)
  • Licensed attorney- Active and Unencumbered
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understand the structure, content, and scoring of the NextGen Uniform Bar Exam
  • Tech-savvy, self-motivated team player with problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of the subjects and skills tested on the NextGen Bar Exam, as well as effective methods for studying and preparing for the bar exam
  • Ability to work independently with a remote manager
  • Ability to appear on camera for remote meetings at anytime during working hours
  • Ability to respond to quickly changing needs with agility and flexibility
