Banquets Captain
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Leadership, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Demonstrate working knowledge of banquet operations, including coordinating and servicing on-site and off-site events
- Participate in all aspects of event execution, including setup, bar service, food service, and event breakdown
- Maintain close communication with on-site contacts regarding event timelines, setup changes, and service needs
- Communicate clearly and professionally with Rooms, Culinary, Stewarding, and other departments both verbally and in writing
- Take ownership of guest, client, and Heartist requests and ensure timely follow-up
- Assist Banquet leadership with day-to-day operations, administrative tasks, and special projects, including food labels and requisitions
- Support banquet leadership with ordering linen, food, beverage, and operational supplies
- Inspect event spaces and back-of-house areas following each event to ensure cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness
- Ensure all event spaces, including Bungalows, Jones Library, and Fountain Room, are returned to standard setup following events
- Complete and review opening and closing manager checklists before and after each shift
- Maintain high standards of guest service, professionalism, and teamwork
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of banquet experience as an F&B Supervisor, Shift Lead, Banquet Manager, or Assistant Banquet Manager within a luxury or full-service property
- Current and active California Food Handler Card required
- Current and active California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification required
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining awareness of overall event operations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Current and valid California Food Handler Card required
- Current and valid California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification required
