About the Role Wise is seeking an experienced Banking Partnerships Manager to join the North America Banking & Expansion team in Austin, TX. You will own and expand Wise’s bank and payment partner relationships, deepen our North American payment infrastructure, and navigate regulatory licensing to support cross-border and domestic payments in the US and Canada.
What You'll Do
- Own key North America bank and payment partner relationships; collaborate with Product, Engineering, Platform, Compliance, Payment Operations, and Legal.
- Lead due diligence with banks to ensure comfort with operations and controls; drive periodic business reviews.
- Lead commercial negotiations and present Wise’s products to banks and partners.
- Work with Compliance, Risk and Product to apply regulatory knowledge and ensure policy goals.
- Collaborate with Product Leads to define opportunities and direction for North America products; interface with North America and global teams.
- Identify and partner for Bank and other partnerships to support launch for consumer and small business debit and credit cards.
- Independently execute high-priority projects: onboarding new banks/pay partners, integrating new payment methods, exploring new products.
- Support operationalizing Bank/Trust licenses including managing OCC and Federal Reserve deliverables and pre-opening exam requirements.
- Drive delivery of high-priority projects, communicating impact and building conviction across teams.
- Monitor metrics and optimize leverage from partners.
- Ensure NA customers are at the center of product strategy.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Accounting, Economics, or Business Management.
- 7+ years experience in payments, banking, fintech, or financial services.
- Deep knowledge of North America payment systems and regulatory landscape; experience with US/Canada.
- Analytical, with strong executive communication and project management skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing bank/partner relationships; strong negotiation and stakeholder management.
- Familiarity with regulatory/licensing processes is a plus.
- Ability to operate independently on high-priority projects; ability to build conviction and drive delivery.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of North American payment rails.
- Experience with bank onboarding, licensing, and payment integration.
- Experience with cross-border payments and global payment networks.
- Strong policy/government relations alignment and partner relationship management.
