About the Role Canonical is seeking engineers for back-end REST API microservices in Go and Python on a remote, worldwide basis. The role centers on building scalable API services to support millions of Ubuntu clients and collaboration across thousands of community members. Open to all levels of seniority, with emphasis on API design, microservices, engineering processes and DevOps.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain backend REST API microservices using Go and Python
- Collaborate across global teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance
- Drive API design, developer workflows, and DevOps practices including CI/CD
- Participate in in-person strategy alignment sessions 2-4 times per year when possible
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in Go and Python
- Experience designing REST APIs and microservices
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, and performance optimization
- Ability to work effectively with distributed/global teams in a remote setup
- All levels of seniority considered
