Job Description
Alert Group is seeking a skilled and results-driven Backend Engineer to join our technology team.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable backend applications and services. You will build and maintain secure RESTful APIs and system integrations, develop and optimize database structures, and integrate third-party services and financial technology solutions. Your work will ensure application performance, security, reliability, and scalability, while troubleshooting and resolving backend issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.
- Build and maintain secure RESTful APIs and system integrations.
- Develop and optimize database structures, queries, and data-driven applications.
- Integrate third-party services, payment platforms, and financial technology solutions.
- Ensure application performance, security, reliability, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues and production incidents.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Backend Engineering/Software Development.
- Fintech, banking, microfinance, or financial services experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, or C#.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, databases, authentication, and system integrations.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of software development best practices, version control, and deployment processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- NYSC completion is compulsory.
