Overview

Rova Nigeria is seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer to build and enhance its next-generation Core Banking Platform based on Apache Fineract. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, microservices, and REST APIs, with experience developing secure, scalable, and high-performance financial applications.

You will work closely with product managers, solution architects, QA engineers, DevOps, and SRE teams to deliver mission-critical banking capabilities including customer onboarding, deposits, lending, payments, accounting, and financial integrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for the Core Banking Platform built on Apache Fineract.
• Develop high-performance RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable microservices supporting banking products such as customer & account management, savings & deposits, lending & loan management, payments & collections, and general ledger & accounting.
• Customise and extend Apache Fineract modules to meet business requirements.
• Design efficient PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, stored procedures, and performance optimisations.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, and industry security standards.
• Integrate with payment gateways, KYC providers, credit bureaus, notification platforms, and third-party banking services.
• Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code following SOLID principles and coding best practices.
• Develop unit and integration tests to maintain high code quality.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in root cause analysis.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous platform improvements.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4–7 years of backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java (Java 17+ preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Security.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL database development and optimisation.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Design Patterns.
• Experience with Docker and containerised applications.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
