Job title: Award Manager

About the Role The Award Manager (AM) provides organization-level research administration services, overseeing project budgets, negotiations, compliance, subrecipient monitoring, and award start-up through close-out. The AM also supervises award administration staff and supports business development and high-quality proposal development, delivering hospitality-driven service to internal and external stakeholders. This is a hybrid-remote role with on-site rotations at Geneva's hub sites in Bethesda, Rockville, Fayetteville, and Tacoma.

What You'll Do

  • Inform growth decisions using sponsor and stakeholder intelligence; develop cost volume/proposal budgets and subcontracting plans as part of collaborative proposal submissions; perform initial application review.
  • Review and negotiate terms and conditions of awards; lead project set-up and kick-off with stakeholders; monitor award terms and compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Initiate, negotiate, and execute all award-related agreements; interpret contract and award documents to determine budgets, invoicing, restrictions.
  • Manage project budgets for compliance and avoid deficits; provide financial reporting to research teams and department leaders.
  • Process modifications and sponsor requests; monitor technical reports vs. SOW; manage subrecipients including risk assessments and annual single audits.
  • Ensure timely progress reports and deliverables; monitor program funding regulations; review sponsor correspondence such as prior approvals and no-cost extensions.
  • Lead project close-out activities and disposition of project assets; ensure award compliance throughout lifecycle.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum four years of experience in research administration, especially federally-funded awards in academic/research settings.
  • Strong understanding of federal regulations governing sponsored research; knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Experience managing fixed-price, T&M/labor-hour, and cost-type contracts/subcontracts; solid understanding of related regulations.
  • Ability to perform price and cost analyses; exceptional attention to detail; excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Developed understanding of OMB Regulations, DoD-GARs, FAR, DFARS, and related regulations.
  • Preferred: Certified Research Administrator and/or Certified Federal Contracts Manager; knowledge of DoD medical research enterprise.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 USD per year.
  • Hybrid-remote arrangement with hub-site rotations.
