Job title: Aviation Studies and AT-CTI Instructor
About the Role The State of New Jersey seeks a full-time faculty member to teach Aviation Studies and the AT-CTI program. The role emphasizes teaching, student support, and program development, with a stipend opportunity of up to $20,000.
What You'll Do
- Teaches a minimum of 15 contact hours per week in aviation studies and air traffic control courses.
- Participates in college-wide committee work, recruitment day activities, student advising, and community outreach.
- Communicates and executes pedagogical and classroom management plans effectively; clarifies expectations and class policies.
- Advises students and assists with coursework, planning of programs, and academic welfare.
- Develops and teaches course content for classroom and online use that conforms to WCAG 2.0 accessibility.
- Conducts program assessment and communicates recommendations; works with faculty to select textbooks and classroom resources.
- Develops and maintains clear grading standards and procedures to maintain consistency and rigor.
- Responds to college needs and adheres to policies; pursues professional development; participates in department meetings and governance tasks.
- Other duties for stipend opportunity: instruction on AT topics using Tower Simulation System; FAA-CTI compliance; mentoring in the FAA ATC application; developing AT-CTI simulation scenarios with Adacel Whiteboard; perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Appropriate FAA or Military professional air traffic control experience; degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years fully credentialed experience as FAA Certified ATCS; Military FAA credentials; ICAO ATC; CTO; basic computer skills.
- Preferred: Experience with Adacel TSS and/or UFA Enroute simulation; FAA/DoD OJTI experience or FAA OS/DoD Watch Supervisor experience; experience with an FAA AT-CTI program.
- Competencies and Skills: Strong communication and instructional skills; ability to deliver instruction in classroom, remote, and online formats; Microsoft Office and Google Suite familiarity; ability to mentor students pursuing FAA ATC careers.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Adacel TSS and/or UFA Enroute simulation.
- FAA/DoD OJTI experience or FAA Operations Supervisor (OS)/DoD Watch Supervisor experience.
- Experience with an FAA AT-CTI program.
