Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for a skilled Audiovisual Engineer who possesses understanding and knowledge of various audiovisual systems for the built environment including, but with a specialty and concentration in audiovisual systems for Federal, Transportation, Education, Command and Control, Performing Arts, Civic/Judicial, Corporate, Broadcast, Retail, Hospitality, Healthcare, and Mixed-Use markets.

With guidance from senior staff, the Audiovisual Engineer applies technical and consulting skills in client interactions and translates project requirements into coordinated drawings, specifications, cost opinions, technical reports, and assessments. They possess experience and understanding of the different design delivery processes found in the architectural, engineering, and construction industry. This position will participate in multi-disciplined design teams for projects of varying sizes. Client communication and relationship skills are required, but this is not a people manager role.

Your Key Responsibilities

Client Consulting and Project Involvement:

• Consults with clients to analyze current technologies and develop solutions that address operational needs, including long-range planning and near-term improvements to existing audiovisual systems.

• Produces and maintains coordinated audiovisual design documentation in Revit throughout all project phases. This production-focused role is expected to spend a minimum of 30% of their time working in Revit.

• Independently completes defined design assignments and coordinates routine technical issues while seeking senior guidance for complex systems, project strategy, and final quality-control decisions.

• Tracks and meets assigned scope, schedule, and budget and communicates risks to project leadership.

• Applies technical skills and experience to develop and coordinate audiovisual design for building projects.

• Designs audiovisual systems for the built environment and develops audiovisual plans, system single-line diagrams, details, schedules, and specifications. Audiovisual systems include but are not limited to: - dvLED systems

• AVoIP systems

• Broadcast systems

• Performance audio systems

• Voice-lift systems

• Unified communications

• Program audio systems

• Video projection

• Control systems

• Command and control AV systems

• Paging systems

• IP and CATV systems

• Plans and manages their own production tasks and assigned deliverables.

• Maintains a holistic view of complex technical solutions being designed and implemented by teams of engineers.

• Performs site surveys, construction observations, audiovisual system inspections, punch-list activities, and installation verification.

• Supports client communications and coordination with agencies and organizations.

Other Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains awareness of operational, technical or regulatory changes and improvements within government, commercial and healthcare environments and the information transport industry relating to audiovisual systems.

• Develops and maintains reference materials related to their area of expertise.

• Other duties as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Understanding and knowledge of the following:

• Audiovisual systems for the built environment.

• Audio and video distribution and processing systems.

• Voice and program audio reinforcement.

• Distributed audio, background music, and paging systems.

• Audio/video conferencing and distance learning systems.

• Video projection and display systems.

• CATV and IPTV systems.

• Digital signage.

• Audiovisual control systems.

• Network systems and protocols related to audiovisual systems.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk Revit, with the ability to independently produce coordinated audiovisual plans, reflected ceiling plans, equipment layouts, details, schedules, and model-based documentation.

• Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes.

• Knowledge of applicable codes and technology standards.

• Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.

• Skill in researching and writing technical papers and reports and effectively communicating the information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Demonstrated interpersonal communications skills and client or customer service experience/skills. Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral form and able to comprehend complex oral and written direction.

• Strong understanding and experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, etc.).

• Ability to multi-task and operate within critical timelines. Applies logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.

• Maintains a high degree of competency and familiarity within the industry with respect to products, services, and standards.

• Capable of managing several project assignments concurrently.

• Attention to detail.

• Must have valid driver’s license and clean MVR.

Your Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 3+ years of related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.

• Training and professional experience in AEC consulting.

• Owner-directed consulting experience.

• CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I certification preferred.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms. The staff member is frequently required to visit and navigate existing facilities and construction sites, which often requires the ability to walk and climb. The staff member must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The staff member must occasionally operate a motor vehicle.

Office Location and Schedule:

Candidates in Denver, San Francisco, Albuquerque, Los Angeles, Irvine, and Seattle will be considered.

This position will have a flexible schedule requiring (3) days in the office, and (2) days working from home.

Pay Range:

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ, VA Areas-$80,500.00 - $116,700.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
