Job title: Automotive Mechanic III
ABOUT THE POSITION
This recruitment is being conducted to fill current regular, full-time, day-shift openings in the Fleet Services Department in the Desert Cities of Indio and Blythe only
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Automotive Mechanic III's serve as licensed motor vehicle pollution control installers/certifiers and brake adjusters, and may function in a lead capacity over other personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Option I: Completion of a recognized automotive mechanic apprenticeship program.
- Option II: Journey level experience in the repair and overhaul of automotive equipment. This experience shall have been under the supervision of a journey level automotive equipment mechanic.
- Substitution Option: Some of the required experience may be substituted on the basis of: (1) Completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter units in automotive mechanics courses taken at a recognized college being equal to 6 mos. of experience, OR (2) Completion of 144 hours of automotive mechanics instruction taken at a union training center, adult school, vocational school, or specialized industrial program being equal to 6 mos. of experience.
Possession of a valid State of California Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Installer and Certification License and Brake Adjuster License. (Exemption - Individuals covered by Letter of Understanding dated November 2, 1989.) ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required.

Probationary Period

Salary
Ordinance. Temporary and Per Diem employees serve at the pleasure of the agency/department head.
