The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for an Automation Engineer to join our team.

The Automation Engineer's responsibilities will include:

  • Creation, modification, and execution of comprehensive manufacturing and/or automation processes including process planning, mechanical design, process documentation, gaging strategies, tooling solutions and work holding design
  • CNC Program creation for milling and turning processes
  • Perform on-machine program validation and optimization
  • Definition of automation cell requirements, creation of 3D concepts, and completion of detailed designs (NX design experience preferred)
  • Lead CNC programming integrations with automated cells during project launches.
  • Development of implementation of established and advanced manufacturing and automation process technologies
  • Responsible for coordination and follow-up of engineering assignments through communication with other concerned personnel.
  • Collaborate with automation team to ensure project deadlines are achieved.
  • Support production needs on automated programs to include but not limited to: Part quality, DRs, Program errors, manufacturing deficiencies, Globalizing corrective actions, Machine troubleshooting
  • Complete tool proofs, setup-sheets, BOP updates for automated NC programs.
  • Contribute to the team’s evaluation of automation capabilities on parts / part families.
  • Troubleshooting and deep diving efforts related to manufacturing processes, automation equipment, CNC programs, and manufacturing quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing with at least 4 years of relevant experience with machining processes (preferably in automated environments).

  • Thorough understanding of detailed engineering drawings and specifications

  • Advanced proficiency in the interpretation of GD&T requirements and inspection methodologies

  • Experience specifying, designing, and/or launching automation

  • U.S. citizenship is required

  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
