About this role
AutoCAD Drafter (Full Time, Texas)
What you will do
- Develop complete, permit-ready construction drawing sets in AutoCAD for dental, medical, optical, and veterinary facilities, from SD through CDs.
- Prepare SD and DD sets of plans, including floor plans, sections, and elevations, and support 3D modeling efforts during both phases.
- Produce architectural floor plans, dimension plans, egress plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, wall details, door schedules, and finish documentation.
- Prepare and coordinate MEP-related drawings, including electrical layouts, lighting plans, panel schedules, HVAC plans, plumbing plans, riser diagrams, and medical gas layouts.
- Transform existing floor plans, takeoff sheets, project proposals, and specifications into accurate, production-ready construction documents.
- Prepare permit sets for submission to local authorities and CD packages for general contractor use.
- Pick up redlines and incorporate revisions, engineering feedback, and permitting comments into updated drawing packages.
- Work within the client’s established AutoCAD templates, layers, blocks, and drafting standards to ensure consistency across all deliverables.
- Coordinate documentation for engineering review and approval, keeping architectural and MEP drawings aligned.
- Support cabinetry and millwork drawings when required.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineering reviewers, and the drafting and pre-construction team, communicating proactively and implementing feedback efficiently.
- Take ownership of assigned drawing sets with minimal supervision after an initial onboarding period, maintaining accuracy, quality, and project deadlines.
What you'll need to know
- Senior-level proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Proven experience working on healthcare projects; dental experience is a strong plus.
- Extensive construction documentation experience, ideally in commercial interiors and tenant improvements.
- Strong understanding of architectural and MEP documentation standards across SD, DD, and CD phases.
- Ability to quickly adapt to existing CAD templates, layers, and drafting standards.
- Advanced English level and strong communication skills.
- Availability to work full time with working hours overlapping U.S. Central Time.
- Ability to work autonomously and deliver high-quality work in a remote environment with limited internal training resources.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and efficiency in production tasks.
- Reliability and ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a long-term, full-time engagement with potential for team growth.
