About this role
Role overview
Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Atlassian Migration Architect for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in LATAM. Our client is a prominent GovTech company offering a cloud-based ERP solution.
This is a combined technical leadership and hands-on delivery role: you design the Atlassian Jira target architecture, own the end-to-end migration execution, and ensure every data migration is accurate, auditable, and accepted by the business.
You will serve as the primary technical authority on client engagements — setting the Jira standard, making tooling decisions, running field transformation scripts, producing reconciliation reports, and guiding clients through UAT and cutover. The role spans discovery through post-cutover handover, and you will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Azure DevOps Specialist, and QA / Validation Analyst on every engagement.
Requirements
-
5+ years of hands-on Atlassian Jira administration and configuration (Cloud and/or Data Center).
-
Deep experience designing Jira project structures: issue types, custom fields, screen schemes, workflows, permission schemes, and notification schemes.
-
Demonstrated experience migrating data into Jira at scale — not just Jira-to-Jira but from heterogeneous source systems.
-
Familiarity with Jira migration tooling: Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, Smartsheet / CSV importers, third-party tools (e.g., Stiltsoft, Trello Importer, or equivalent); ability to evaluate and select tools objectively.
-
Experience configuring Atlassian Marketplace apps, particularly X-Ray (or equivalent test management tools).
-
Azure DevOps: working knowledge of Azure DevOps APIs, work item types, area paths, iteration hierarchies, and repo structures.
-
Experience extracting and transforming data from at least two of: Azure DevOps, Wrike, Jira Server/Cloud, spreadsheet / CSV trackers.
-
Familiarity with REST API pagination, rate limits, and bulk data extraction patterns.
-
Proficiency in at least one scripting language used for data transformation (Python preferred; Node.js or PowerShell acceptable).
-
Comfortable reading and writing JSON/XML transformations; experience with field mapping and ETL patterns.
-
Ability to write reconciliation and validation logic: record count comparison, field-level sampling, attachment and link verification.
-
Experience delivering in a sprint-based professional services model with formal UAT, sign-off gates, and client-facing documentation.
-
Able to produce clear technical documentation for non-technical stakeholders: field mapping documents, validation reports, admin runbooks.
-
Comfortable facilitating UAT sessions and go/no-go conversations with client team leads.
-
Nice to have
-
Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) — Jira Administration or equivalent certification
-
Experience with Salesforce ↔ Jira integration (Exalate, Unito, Zapier, or native connectors)
-
Experience with GitHub / Azure DevOps ↔ Jira repo link configuration
-
Prior work on engagements involving post-acquisition tool consolidation or multi-tenant Jira standardization
-
Experience with X-Ray or Zephyr test management data migration
-
Familiarity with Entra / Azure AD user provisioning and SCIM integration concepts
-
Background in Agile delivery environments; working knowledge of common workflow patterns (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
Responsibilities
-
Define and document the Springbrook / client Jira standard: issue types, statuses, workflows, field definitions, naming conventions, permission schemes, and board structure
-
Design and configure target Jira Cloud instance architecture to support multiple migrated teams under a unified governance model
-
Make and document tooling decisions per source system type; evaluate and configure migration tooling before any migration run begins
-
Design the integration architecture for Salesforce ↔ Jira, GitHub / Azure DevOps ↔ Jira, and any additional connectors discovered during discovery
-
Execute the full per-team migration cycle: data extraction, field transformation, import, reconciliation, and source system decommission
-
Produce field mapping documents for all source systems; validate each mapping against the Jira standard before any trial migration run
-
Write and maintain field transformation scripts; ensure all unmappable fields are formally dispositioned in writing
-
Run trial migrations into sandbox environments; produce data validation reports (record counts, attachment integrity, comment/link preservation, history)
-
Execute production cutover migrations; produce final reconciliation reports confirming target-to-source match as of the agreed data-freeze timestamp
-
Set source systems to read-only post-cutover and confirm team access in the target instance
-
Lead Sprint 0 (Discovery): complete integration audit across all source systems (webhooks, CI/CD triggers, reporting tools, plugins, scheduled jobs), data volume quantification, user roster analysis, and X-Ray / test management data scope confirmation
-
Deliver a revised effort estimate with High confidence at the close of Sprint 0, reflecting actual integration count and data volumes
-
Identify and escalate technical blockers — attachment oversizes, custom workflow complexity, API access gaps — before they affect the migration schedule
-
Conduct contractor knowledge transfer: collect and review existing field mapping, migration scripts, and institutional knowledge from any predecessor effort
-
Configure and end-to-end test the Salesforce ↔ Jira connector
-
Configure and test GitHub repos ↔ Jira and Azure DevOps repos ↔ Jira interim link integrations
-
Coordinate with client IT and Salesforce administrators on integration dependencies
-
Author the admin runbook: space configuration reference, permission schemes, integration management, user provisioning, and top-ten common issue resolutions
-
Deliver the project closure report: records migrated per team, open items with owners and target dates, and platform recommendations
-
Conduct the Atlassian admin handover session with the client's designated platform owner; ensure full operational self-sufficiency
-
Produce a LAMA / WebSoft consistency review advisory report where applicable
