The Athletics Ticket & Game Operations Assistant is a member of the Athletics External Operations team and plays an important role in providing a positive and professional gameday experience for fans, student-athletes, coaches, officials, and campus guests. This position assists with ticket operations, customer service, facility preparation, event management, crowd management, and other gameday responsibilities for athletic contests and special events. Individuals in this role serve as representatives of the Athletics Department and are expected to provide exceptional customer service while helping ensure safe, organized, and successful events.

This is a part-time, event-based position. Work schedules are determined by the Athletics event calendar and may include football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and other athletic contests, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional daytime events. Attendance is required at training sessions and pre-event operational meetings.

Job Duties

Ticket Operations
-
Assist with ticket sales and ticket scanning at venue entrances.

Verify ticket validity and assist patrons with ticket-related questions.

Provide information regarding seating locations, venue policies, parking, and gameday procedures.

Operate ticket scanners, handheld devices, and other ticketing technology as assigned.

Help troubleshoot minor ticketing issues and escalate concerns to full-time ticket office staff when necessary.

Assist with game credential distribution and access control as assigned.

Game Operations
-
Assist with setup and breakdown of athletic events, including signage, tables, stanchions, hospitality areas, and other gameday equipment.

Support game management staff with event logistics before, during, and after contests.

Monitor entry gates, seating areas, concourses, and designated event spaces.

Assist with fan engagement activities and promotional events.
-
Ensure spectator areas remain safe, clean, and organized throughout events.

Provide support for multiple sports and special events as assigned.

Guest Services

Greet fans, donors, visiting teams, officials, and guests in a professional manner.

Respond to guest questions and assist with directions throughout athletic facilities.

Support ADA accommodations and accessibility needs for guests.

Resolve customer concerns courteously and efficiently while maintaining a positive event atmosphere.

Maintain a friendly, helpful, and customer-focused presence at all times.

Safety and Security

Monitor crowd flow and assist with venue access management.

Enforce Athletics Department and facility policies professionally and respectfully.

Maintain awareness of emergency procedures and assist during emergency situations as directed.

Communicate concerns promptly to supervisors, event management personnel, or security staff.

Assist in maintaining a safe environment for all attendees.

The Athletics Ticket & Game Operations Assistant performs other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of athletic events and promote an outstanding fan experience.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Strong customer service skills and commitment to creating a positive guest experience.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to communicate effectively in person and through radio communication.

Basic proficiency with technology, including ticket scanners and mobile devices.

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to maintain a professional appearance and represent the Athletics Department positively.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during athletic events.

Ability to climb stairs and navigate athletic facilities.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.

Ability to work in environments with large crowds, elevated noise levels, and fast-paced activity.

Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous experience in athletics, event operations, ticketing, customer service, hospitality, or related fields.
-
Experience working collegiate athletic events.
-
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
