About the Role The Athletic Trainer will lead daily management and treatment of student-athletes’ medical needs, oversee safety education, and coordinate care within a Christian university setting. This role supports injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation while ensuring compliance with state licensure and professional standards. What You'll Do
- Work under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Training and be responsible for the prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses, evaluation and treatment of injuries, and education/counseling of student-athletes about their injuries/illnesses.
- Oversee CPR/AED and First Aid education for all athletic staff.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room.
- Participate in inventory management of supplies.
- Document and maintain student-athlete PHI (e.g., physicals, injury reports, rehabilitation) in the SportsWare Online system.
- Maintain effective communication with the Director of Athletic Training, athletic director, student-athletes, coaches, and physicians.
- Attend Department of Athletics meetings and coordinate the athletic calendar of events.
- Coordinate and maintain records for all athletic physical examinations for student-athletes.
- Complete required CEUs for NATA and Arizona licensure and remain in good standing.
- Develop, communicate and enforce Nelson University-AIC Policy & Procedures for athletes.
- Maintain a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays; travel for team practices and competition when needed; possess a valid driver’s license.
- Travel with teams as needed (very rarely; may be required for both male and female teams).
- Perform or assist with physical requirements such as lifting up to 100 pounds and positioning patients for examination.
- Other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor degree in exercise physiology/health education, sports medicine or related field (preferred).
- BOC Certification for Athletic Training.
- Arizona Athletic Training License.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to the mission and values of a Christian educational institution (faith-based environment).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for university vans and travel for team practices and competition.
