Millie’s British International School (MBIS) – Associate Teacher (Ibadan)

Description

• MBIS Ibadan is seeking experienced and capable Associate Teachers to join our primary teaching team. We are looking for teachers who already possess sound classroom teaching skills, secure subject knowledge and experience working with primary-aged pupils.

• At MBIS, Associate Teachers are expected to bring existing teaching competence to the role and will be mentored and supported to adapt to our British curriculum, teaching resources, assessment systems, classroom routines and professional expectations.

• Essential Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• Bachelor’s Degree or PGDE as a minimum qualification with a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant primary classroom teaching experience;

• Experience teaching primary-aged pupils;

• Secure knowledge of the primary curriculum, particularly English, Mathematics and Science;

• Strong spoken and written English;

• Good classroom organisation and behaviour-management skills;

• Good computer literacy; and

• Clear and legible handwriting

• Applicants must be Ibadan-based or able to commute reliably to our school off Jericho, Ibadan. MBIS does not provide staff accommodation or relocation expenses.

• Qualifications alone will not be sufficient.

• Teach rather than simply present information;

• Explain concepts clearly and accurately;

• Use effective questioning;

• Model work clearly using the board and appropriate resources;

• Maintain appropriate classroom routines and pupil engagement;

• Mark and provide appropriate feedback;

• Follow curriculum sequences and agreed lesson plans;

• Manage time effectively;

• Prepare independently and arrive ready to teach;

• Receive professional feedback positively and implement it; and

• Work reliably without constant supervision.

• We are particularly interested in teachers who are competent, teachable and professionally reliable.

• What MBIS will Provide

• Successful Associate Teachers will receive structured support to adapt to the MBIS environment, including orientation to our curriculum, resources and assessment systems, mentoring, classroom observation, professional feedback and opportunities for professional development.

• Mentoring is intended to support adaptation and professional development, not to provide basic training in classroom teaching.
