About this role
About the Role Mattel is seeking a motivated Standards and Practices (S&P) Associate to review and advise on Mattel TV Studio productions, books, mobile apps and games, and other entertainment properties from an S&P and legal perspective. You will collaborate with internal partners across the Marketing, Advertising, and Content Review Legal Team to help ensure compliance with company standards, industry best practices, and applicable laws.
What You'll Do
- Review scripts, storyboards, animatics, cuts, and related materials as assigned.
- Conduct research related to third-party IP and personal rights issues.
- Support tracking and organization of clearance reports from third-party vendors and flag potential issues.
- Identify IP concerns and escalate to senior team members as appropriate.
- Assist with stock footage and image library agreements, including reviewing standard terms.
- Prepare summaries, reports, and status updates for the team.
- Partner with the Advertising and Marketing Legal Team to confirm marketing materials meet requirements.
- Analyze the competitive landscape and keep up with industry trends.
- Review advertising and marketing materials for designated brands to ensure compliance with laws and guidelines (e.g., COPPA, CARU).
- Assist with the review of select advertising assets, campaigns, promotions (packaging, TV commercials, digital ads, influencer content, sweepstakes, branded websites, in-store signage).
- Communicate regularly with internal teams and supervising attorneys, with occasional exposure to outside counsel.
- Manage multiple assignments with guidance, escalating more complex issues as needed.
- Maintain legal/compliance resources and databases and assist in developing training materials.
- Participate in internal trainings and contribute to special projects and process improvements.
What We're Looking For
- BA/BS degree required; 1-3 years of relevant experience in standards & practices, legal, media, compliance, or related field preferred.
- Ability to conduct research and apply guidelines with attention to detail; identify issues and escalate appropriately.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; communicate clearly and professionally.
- Strong collaboration skills and initiative; stay organized and detail-oriented when reviewing content and documentation.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn; able to exercise independent judgment when advising on a wide range of issues.
- Interest in entertainment, media, children’s content, and/or IP is a plus. Familiarity with content standards, media production, or legal concepts is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: USD 33.462 - 41.827 per hour.
