Cornell College invites applications for an associate registrar. The associate registrar is responsible for working with faculty, staff, and students to guide them through the registration process, maintain and update the Academic Catalog, and work with students on degree audits and Commencement responsibilities. The position serves as a source of information and answers questions for all constituents on academic policies and procedures as well as degree and major requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities

Work with the Registrar and academic departments to maintain and update the Academic Catalogue. Is responsible for assigning course numbers to new courses and updating major/minor checklists in multiple locations.

Serve students and faculty by answering questions, explaining regulations and procedures, interpreting the Catalogue, and providing necessary resources.

Assign classrooms each block and make adjustments as needed. Maintain system of keeping track of classrooms and their attributes.

Serve as a member of the Academic Programs committee and is responsible for making changes to academic programs in the Catalogue, PowerCampus, and Stellic degree audit software.

Assist with maintenance of student records and major declarations, and assist in the coordination of the registration process.

Guide students and faculty through the transfer of credit process, and track and record transfer courses on students’ records. Work with the Registrar to evaluate transfer courses from other institutions on an ongoing basis.

Is the primary contact for degree audits, and is responsible for the logistics of degree completion and communicating with seniors about degree audits and progress.

Works with non-graduates on completing degree requirements after Commencement.

Represents the Registrar’s Office on the campus Commencement committee and is responsible for maintaining an ongoing list of graduating seniors, monitoring degree progress, and working with the Office of Marketing and Communication to develop the Commencement program.

Work with the Athletic department to determine athletic eligibility and calculate team GPAs as needed for athletic awards.

With the Assistant Registrar, maintain the web site for the Registrar’s office.

Supervise 3-5 student workers

Serve as customer service front line staff member as needed.

Is the primary contact for use of the Stellic degree audit software and serves as the campus contact for the Stellic team. Makes updates to Stellic audits, is responsible for creating instructions and instructional videos, and assists students and advisors in effectively using the software.

Work with faculty to track and record adjunct courses and topics course offerings

Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) to support international student advising on immigrations matters within Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)

Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Experience in higher education preferred.

Knowledge of general office procedures and the ability to use office equipment such as copiers, calculators, and computer software including MS Office applications. Ability to learn new software such as cms, PowerCampus, and other tools as needed. Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally in a variety of situations in person and on the telephone. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Demonstrated customer-service orientation. Fine finger movement is required for typing, word processing and filing, as well as reaching and grasping.

Work is performed primarily while seated in an office environment with some walking from building to building for various meetings.
