Bryant University seeks to hire an Associate Professor of Finance. Highly qualified candidates for an Assistant Professor position might also be considered. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, to scholarly research, and to departmental and university service. While we welcome applications from candidates in all areas of finance, we have a particular need for a candidate with research and teaching interest in corporate finance and private equity. The successful candidate will teach in our undergraduate (BSBA) and graduate business programs.

Principal Accountabilities
Research Data Support
Bryant subscribes to the typical databases used in financial research (e.g., CRSP, Compustat), plus a number of specialized data services in support of research on corporate governance, banking, and ESG topics. We utilize the WRDS platform at Bryant to organize these databases. Bryant also provides access to FactSet, Morningstar, and Bloomberg to support research and teaching in Finance in our state of the art Financial Markets Center.
Appointment
Rank is Associate Professor. Salary is commensurate with experience, demonstrated scholarly performance, and will be consistent with AACSB salary levels. The appointment would commence with the start of the 2027-2028 academic year. Candidates would be expected to apply for tenure within two years of employment at Bryant, depending on prior experience and their research accomplishments. A candidate with fewer years of experience could be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor, and the timing to a tenure decision would be longer.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Finance from an AACSB-International or EQUIS accredited institution. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals. Research that speaks to both academic and managerial audiences is highly desirable. Candidates must have at least 6 years of teaching experience in a business school and experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels to qualify for the Associate Professor role. A highly qualified candidate with at least 3 years’ experience could be considered for an Assistant Professor role. Evidence of curricular innovation and a demonstrated commitment to service as an active member of a university community is also required. Successful candidates will also demonstrate they can design and lead new initiatives that support research and teaching, e.g., building innovative programs, authoring research grants, establishing connections with the business community and alumni, and developing new courses.

The Finance Department currently consists of ten tenured or tenure-track faculty members, six full-time non-tenure track faculty members, and several adjunct professors. Due to high student demand for our courses and programs, we are seeking to grow the size of the full-time Finance Department faculty. Students interested in Finance can earn concentrations in finance as part of our undergraduate degrees in business administration (BSBA) or international business (BSIB). We also offer a specialized concentration in financial services for undergraduate students, and we offer graduate courses in Finance as part of Master’s degree programs. Bryant does not have a doctoral program in Finance.
