About the Role Associate Principal in the Medical Affairs Team responsible for designing, developing and delivering strategic Medical Affairs projects in support of Blue Matter’s clients in New York and beyond. You will lead high-profile client work, drive innovation in Medical Affairs offerings, and mentor junior team members as the practice expands.
What You'll Do
- Design, development and delivery of strategic Medical Affairs projects; client-facing exposure; contribute to new product offerings.
- Plan, organize and manage resources to achieve project goals.
- Lead teams to execute strategic thinking, high-quality research and analysis.
- Design, structure and deliver client reports and presentations.
- Develop client relationships through face-to-face discussions, workshops, calls and emails.
- Provide expert guidance on Medical Affairs domains: planning, stakeholder engagement, insights gathering and communications.
- Drive Medical Affairs strategies aligned with broader commercialization goals; ensure scientific value propositions are robust and market-relevant across the product lifecycle.
- Integrate AI/ML tools to execute projects more efficiently.
- Advise on Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Real-World Data (RWD) tactics and landscape to progress study concepts.
- Lead the development of proposals for new projects in partnership with Principals/Partners.
- Lead business development, building client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- Lead QA efforts for projects; manage fees and expenses (travel, meetings, invoicing with finance).
- Foster knowledge of consulting methodologies and pharma market through training.
- Coach project team members and act as formal mentor for up to 3 junior staff.
- Usually staffed on 2-3 projects in parallel for broad exposure and skill demonstration.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in healthcare / life sciences or pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience focusing on strategic business cases, product development, technical architecture.
- Strong project management and ability to juggle priorities to meet deadlines with high-quality outcomes.
- Experience in sizable/multi-disciplined teams and supervising junior members.
- Experience developing relationships with senior-level managers and executives in pharma/healthcare.
- Knowledge of key issues and developments in pharma/healthcare.
- Analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent presentation, communication and client influencing skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication including presentations, chairing meetings, workshop facilitation, and report writing.
- Knowledge of consulting methodologies, tools and techniques (desirable).
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree(s) (PhD, MD, MBA, or MS); background in life sciences (Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Epidemiology) or numerate disciplines (Economics, Engineering, Public Health, Data Science).
- 6+ years of life sciences consulting experience.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $185,000 - $225,000 per year, with incentive compensation.
