About the Role UDRI is recruiting for an Associate Mechanical Technician within the Advanced Composites division (250575). This full-time, benefit-eligible role supports mechanical testing, data collection, and documentation in a laboratory setting, with opportunities to learn from senior staff. The position is located in Dayton, OH and is eligible for health, dental and vision, retirement, disability, vacation time, sick leave, and paid holidays. What You'll Do
- Help perform mechanical testing and assemble components, verify test data and calculations, and maintain documentation of procedures and results.
- Record test data in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint; track lab supplies and project records.
- Follow detailed instructions and aerospace quality procedures; maintain safe laboratory practices.
- Assist with equipment and tool setup, calibration, and cleanup; collaborate with senior staff as needed. What We're Looking For
- T1 qualifications: Associate degree in a relevant field; ability to perform arithmetic, basic algebra/trigonometry; follow QA procedures; proficient in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint; prioritize tasks; willingness to learn; detail oriented; able to lift up to 40 lbs; basic familiarity with hand tools and measurement tools; strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication; U.S. citizen.
- T2 qualifications: 3 years of experience; formal mechanical training beyond high school can substitute for two years of related experience. Nice to Have
- Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation (extensometry, Digital Image Correlation, Strain Gages, LVDTs, deflectometers).
- Experience with data reduction and analysis techniques.
- Machine shop experience; basic tooling and jig design and fabrication.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015, 17025, or NADCAP quality system practices. Compensation & Benefits
