Job title: Associate, Insurance Regulatory & Compliance – Global Financial Services Practice Group

About the Role The Associate will join the Insurance Regulatory and Compliance practice within the Global Financial Services Practice Group to advise on regulatory and transactional matters for insurance clients. The position can be located in any of our U.S. Offices.

What You'll Do

  • Provide a full range of high-quality legal services to insurance industry clients including complex commercial and corporate transactions, responses to regulatory inquiries, regulatory reporting, and day-to-day regulatory compliance issues.
  • Possess a working knowledge of state and federal insurance laws, rules and regulations.
  • Advise on regulatory filings and approvals, insurance holding company compliance, formation and licensure of insurers, and entry into new jurisdictions and markets.
  • Structure and advise on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions involving insurance companies and related businesses.
  • Counsel on the development of compliance programs, internal controls, risk mitigation strategies, and day-to-day regulatory compliance; interact with regulators, respond to department inquiries, assist with market conduct and financial examinations, and support clients in administrative proceedings.
  • Gain meaningful exposure to regulatory interactions and work on complex matters for sophisticated clients across the insurance industry.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and with senior attorneys, develop client relationships, and deliver meticulous work with attention to detail.

What We're Looking For

  • JD from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Admitted to practice law in the State Bar of the Associate’s primary jurisdiction.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex matters; strong client-relationship skills; meticulous attention to detail; motivated, organized, self-starter.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal insurance laws, rules and regulations.
