About the Role Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP seeks an Associate to join our insurance team as part of the Global Financial Services Practice Group. The position can be located in any of our U.S. Offices. The Insurance Regulatory and Compliance practice represents insurance companies, sponsors, healthcare systems, and other entities on regulatory and transactional matters across the insurance industry. Associates work on insurance regulatory filings, licensure, compliance programs, and complex transactions, gaining exposure to regulatory interactions and examinations. What You'll Do

  • Provide a full range of high-quality legal services to insurance industry clients including complex commercial and corporate transactions, responses to regulatory inquiries, regulatory reporting, and day-to-day regulatory compliance issues.
  • Leverage knowledge of state and federal insurance laws, rules and regulations to advise on filings, approvals, holding company compliance, formation and licensure of insurers, and entry into new jurisdictions and markets.
  • Structure and advise on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions involving insurance companies and related businesses.
  • Counsel on development of compliance programs, internal controls, risk mitigation strategies, and ongoing regulatory compliance; interact with regulators; assist with market conduct and financial examinations; support administrative proceedings.
  • Gain hands-on experience with regulatory filings and approvals, and develop deep regulatory expertise across the insurance industry. What We're Looking For
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with a strong academic record
  • Admitted to practice law in the State Bar (as appropriate for the Associate's primary office)
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in insurance regulatory/compliance
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex matters
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and sound judgement
  • Strong client-relationship skills and ability to manage tasks with meticulous attention to detail
