About the Role K&L Gates seeks a highly motivated associate to join the Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice group in our Washington, DC office. The role focuses on litigation and counseling policyholders in complex insurance coverage matters; arbitration experience is preferred but not required. The selected candidate will work closely with experienced lawyers and have opportunities for increasing client contact and responsibility. What You'll Do
- Litigate and counsel policyholders in complex insurance coverage matters, including arbitrations when applicable.
- Analyze and interpret complex insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage frameworks.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to provide high-quality client service and assume increasing levels of responsibility.
- Manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and maintain strong organizational skills. What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Bar admission and in good standing or ability to become admitted promptly.
- Minimum of 3-6 years of experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism; self-starter with initiative and attention to detail.
- Experience counseling and representing policyholders in complex insurance coverage litigation (arbitrations preferred but not required). Nice to Have
- Arbitration experience and experience counseling and representing policyholders in insurance coverage litigation (preferred but not required). Compensation & Benefits
- Base Compensation: $250,000-$360,000 per year.
- The salary will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on factors including prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
