Associate General Counsel
We are looking for an accomplished legal leader to join a high-growth consumer healthcare and technology organization in Austin, Texas. This role partners closely with senior leadership to strengthen the legal function, guide complex regulatory decisions, and support continued expansion across digital health, pharmacy, and online consumer platforms. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, operational agility, and the ability to create practical legal structures that enable innovation while managing risk.
Responsibilities
- Advise executives and business leaders on significant legal, regulatory, and governance matters that affect company strategy and operations.
- Develop and enhance policies, controls, and decision-making frameworks that support growth while aligning with the organization’s risk profile.
- Provide leadership to the legal team by setting priorities, reviewing work quality, and fostering ongoing skill development.
- Direct the legal aspects of major business transactions and oversee dispute matters, including management of external counsel and related spending.
- Interpret changes in healthcare, pharmacy, telehealth, and e-commerce regulations and translate them into actionable guidance for internal stakeholders.
- Support and expand compliance programs designed to meet federal and state healthcare requirements across multiple operating areas.
- Oversee licensing, accreditation, audit, and inspection readiness activities across jurisdictions, including responses to regulatory agencies and boards.
- Counsel the business on rules related to prescription products, advertising, labeling, and consumer-facing healthcare offerings.
- Guide compliance efforts related to patient privacy, data handling, and security obligations affecting protected health information.
- Partner with the General Counsel on department planning, workload management, product launches, and entry into additional markets.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.

At least 7 years of legal, regulatory, or compliance experience, preferably within telehealth, pharmacy, or other highly regulated healthcare settings.

Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements, including state and federal pharmacy laws, telemedicine rules, and corporate practice considerations.

Demonstrated experience building or managing legal and compliance frameworks in a fast-moving business environment.

Background handling regulatory reviews, agency inquiries, audits, or inspections with a practical and organized approach.

Familiarity with commercial contracts, corporate governance, contract negotiation, and transactional matters such as mergers and acquisitions.

Ability to balance business objectives with legal risk assessment and communicate clearly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
