Skills and Competencies
- Solid quantitative skills and analytical problem solving ability required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the confidence to interact with top financial professionals
- Demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm and ability to learn quickly and excel as part of a dynamic team
- Attention to detail and ability to work and learn independently
- Proficient in writing macros using one programming language such as Microsoft Excel VBA, Java, Python, and etc
- Proficient in writing SQL queries for data analysis and extraction
- Working knowledge of financial concepts and exposure to structured finance
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools and workflow automation to drive efficiency in data operations is a plus
- Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use
Education
- Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's) or graduate/second-level degree (e.g. MBA, Master's) with 1-2 years of work experience with an emphasis in financial engineering, computer science, engineering, math, finance, economics, or a related quantitative field preferred
Responsibilities

The Associate Financial Engineer supports the CLO Data team in validating, maintaining, and enhancing structured finance data and analytic solutions.

Update and validate collateral for Structured Finance transactions

Work with proprietary datasets and data developers to maintain and improve data quality, consistency and breadth, with a specific focus toward extending our derived data

Maintain and improve data processes and leverage AI-driven workflows to automate repetitive tasks and accelerate analysis

Analyze complex financial fixed-income instruments

Aid in the implementation, customization, and use of analytic solutions

Work with the product development team to design, build and implement new features and functions for analytic and data products

About the Team

Our CLO Data team plays a critical role in processing, validating, and delivering periodic CLO data to downstream products. As part of Moody's Data Estate department, we focus on expanding CLO data coverage, enhancing derived data, and driving improvements in overall data quality. By joining our team, you will contribute to solving complex analytical problems, refining data processes, and supporting impactful decision-making across Moody's.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $78,800.00 - $114,200.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a completion bonus. Moody’s also offers insurance and a discounted employee stock purchase plan for limited duration employees.
