Associate Engineer-Civil(BESS)

About the Role The Associate Engineer-Civil (BESS) at Black & Veatch is a technical specialist role designed to grow with experience, handling larger and more complex civil site design tasks for BESS/solar/grid projects. Under general supervision, you will apply civil engineering knowledge, learn design guides and standards, and collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver quality engineering deliverables. What You'll Do

• Learn and apply departmental design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes; stay current with B&V policies.
• Independently apply knowledge as skills develop and expand into related disciplines and functional areas.
• Comply with B&V quality program and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Prepare a variety of increasingly complex engineering deliverables and perform research to support equipment/materials selection.
• Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work; prepare engineering calculations following standard methods.
• Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements; recognize and resolve problems within assigned area and provide guidance to others when needed.
• Assign tasks to entry level professionals and interns; coordinate with project leadership and other internal/external team members on less complex projects.
• Interact with other disciplines on design details; communicate with external clients to understand interests and drivers and align with internal project leadership.
• Provide support to business development or pursuit activities when applicable; share knowledge of latest technology and processes.
• As skills develop, assist with performance management, recognition, and corrective actions; actively mentor entry level professionals and interns. What We're Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized institute.
• Total experience: 2-9 years; experience in Civil Site Design for Stormwater runoff management, drainage systems, grading, and road design.
• Familiar with AutoCAD, Civil 3D; familiar with civil design codes, standards and best practices.
• Master’s degree (preferred); Professional License (preferred).
• Professional work experience in Civil Site design engineering for BESS/SOLAR/GRID projects; enthusiastic about learning within a global team.
• Experience of working remotely with an overseas team; familiar with American codes and DOTs.
• Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s degree in engineering; minimum 1 year related work experience.
• Pre-employment requirements may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search. Nice to Have
• Master’s degree and Professional License (preferred).
• Experience working with overseas/remote teams and global collaborations.
