Associate Director of Data Science – Global Supply Chain Digital

Overview

Amgen’s Global Supply Chain Digital team is seeking an Associate Director of Data Science to join the cross-functional Global Supply Chain organization. The role can be based remotely in the United States, Portugal, Netherlands, or Ireland (or at our Thousand Oaks headquarters). You will lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics, AI/ML, GenAI, and digital solutions that transform Global Supply Chain operations and enable reliable delivery of critical medicines to patients worldwide. This position combines strategic leadership with deep technical expertise. In addition to leading advanced data science initiatives, you will help establish and scale Amgen’s India-based digital capability team supporting Global Supply Chain, including defining the organizational structure, operating model, governance, and delivery processes for a team of data scientists and digital developers, while providing ongoing leadership and oversight once the organization is established. The role requires expertise in AI/ML, advanced analytics, digital product development, and modern data architecture, with a strong understanding of supply chain and manufacturing operations. You will collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, and Digital Technology teams to develop scalable solutions that improve forecasting, planning, inventory optimization, productivity, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics, AI/ML, GenAI, and digital solutions to transform Global Supply Chain operations and enable reliable delivery of medicines to patients worldwide.
• Drive strategic data science initiatives and deliver scalable, data-driven solutions across the organization.
• Help establish and scale Amgen’s India-based digital capability team, including defining the organizational structure, operating model, governance, and delivery processes for data scientists and digital developers.
• -Provide ongoing leadership, oversight, and governance for the digital capability organization once established.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, and Digital Technology teams to develop solutions that improve forecasting, planning, inventory optimization, productivity, and overall operations.
• Combine deep technical expertise with business acumen to translate complex problems into scalable digital products and platforms.

Requirements

• Proven leadership in data science with expertise in AI/ML, advanced analytics, digital product development, and modern data architecture.
• Strong understanding of supply chain and manufacturing operations.
• Track record of delivering scalable data-driven solutions and leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Ability to work across global teams and influence without direct authority, while providing strategic direction and governance for digital initiatives.
• Excellent collaboration skills to partner with multiple functions, including Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT, and Digital Technology.
• Willingness to operate in a remote-capable environment and contribute to a global organization.
