Job title: Associate Director CSR Reporting (m/w/d)
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Associate Director CSR Reporting (m/w/d) to join BioNTech's CSR Performance and Reporting Team and lead the sustainability reporting ecosystem. This role focuses on CSRD/ESRS compliance, optimizing ESG ratings, supporting carbon governance and accounting, and delivering audit-ready disclosures. You will shape our sustainability reporting architecture under current regulatory waves while ensuring regulatory compliance and effective internal alignment. Reports to the Team Lead CSR Performance and Reporting.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support CSRD/ESRS and EU Taxonomy implementation; prepare integrated management reports and audit-ready sustainability disclosures.
- Develop and maintain sustainability reporting architecture to support mandatory compliance and ESG rating performance.
- Lead operational execution of ESG rating processes (ISS ESG, S&P CSA) and coordinate capital market sustainability engagements with Investor Relations and CSR.
- Respond to governmental and regulatory inquiries and optimize stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Establish and maintain BioNTech's global carbon accounting framework; deliver internal decarbonization reports and aid strategic business planning; implement financial allocation processes for compliant external carbon reporting.
- Oversee external sustainability assurance processes; manage relationships with external auditors.
- Align and improve internal reporting controls in collaboration with the SOX 404/Internal Controls Team.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Sustainability, Finance, Business Administration or Economics, Environmental or Social Science or related field; 5+ years of cross-functional leadership experience in sustainability reporting.
- Deep knowledge of sustainability standards (GRI, ESRS, SASB, IFRS, IFRS Sustainability Standards); climate reporting frameworks (IFRS/TCFD); UN Global Compact, SDGs.
- Experience in sustainability reporting within publicly traded companies; strong interface between financial and sustainability reporting.
- Pharma- and/or Biotech-background preferred.
- Proven project management, stakeholder alignment, and collaboration with auditors; executive-level communication with strong writing skills.
- Experience with SAP Sustainability Control Tower, SAP Green Ledger, SAP Analytics Cloud, and Workiva reporting platform is a plus.
- Experience managing ESG ratings, particularly ISS ESG and S&P CSA, is highly desirable.
- Hands-on, accountable mindset with ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
- Business-fluent English and German.
