Job title: Associate Attorney - General Liability Defense
About the Role Segal McCambridge is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our New York office with a focus on general liability defense litigation. This role offers ownership of your cases while collaborating with a national team of seasoned litigators and mentoring from experienced trial attorneys. You’ll be involved in challenging, high-exposure matters and supported by a national team of seasoned litigators.
What You'll Do
- Manage a diverse caseload of general liability matters, including: Premises liability, Property damage, Personal injury defense, Construction-related general liability, Child Victim Act, Trucking/Transportation, Other tort and civil litigation
- Manage cases from inception through resolution or trial
- Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions
- Take and defend depositions
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
- Collaborate with partners and other team members on case strategy
- This is a hybrid position with a flexible mix of remote work and in-office collaboration
What We're Looking For
- Active license to practice law in New York (required)
- 1+ year of civil litigation experience, ideally with a focus on general liability defense
- Strong litigation skills: pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting
- Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus
- Dual licensure in another jurisdiction is a bonus (CT preferred)

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $110,000 – $170,000, based on experience
