Job title: Associate Attorney – General Liability and Complex Litigation
About the Role Segal McCambridge is seeking an Associate Attorney to join the General Liability and Complex Litigation team in our Chicago office. This role provides hands-on litigation experience, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to manage cases with mentorship from seasoned trial attorneys in a collaborative environment. This is a hybrid position with two in-office days per week.
What You'll Do
- Manage an active litigation caseload with partner guidance and support
- Draft pleadings, motions, written discovery, and other litigation-related filings
- Take and defend depositions, appear in court, and participate in mediations and arbitrations
- Handle day-to-day case strategy and client communication
- Work on complex, high-stakes matters for sophisticated national clients
- Gain hands-on experience in all phases of litigation through trial and resolution
What We're Looking For
- Active license to practice law in Illinois
- Minimum of 2 years of civil defense litigation experience
- Strong legal research, writing, motion practice, and advocacy skills
- Experience handling depositions, discovery, client reporting, and case management responsibilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of assignments and client matters
Nice to Have

- Experience handling mediations and arbitrations
- Dual licensure in another jurisdiction
Compensation & Benefits
