About the Role Our Associate Attorneys help save the planet. There is no better place to grow as a litigator. Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization focused on public-interest cases that create positive change for the planet and its people. The day-to-day work varies by team and experience level and includes legal research and writing, developing facts, commenting on regulatory actions, interacting with clients, conducting discovery, working with expert witnesses, preparing for and participating in evidentiary hearings, drafting motions and briefs, and presenting legal arguments in court. Associates also collaborate with our communications strategists and lobbying teams.
What You'll Do
- Conduct legal research and writing for environmental law cases
- Develop facts, interact with clients, and support regulatory actions
- Conduct discovery and work with expert witnesses
- Prepare for and participate in evidentiary hearings, and draft motions and briefs
- Present legal arguments in court and collaborate with cross-functional teams including communications and lobbying
What We're Looking For
- Excellent research and writing skills, and a record of academic achievement
- Good judgment, a desire to take on challenges, and ability to work well in a team with clients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
- Most associates enter Earthjustice with 0–4 years of legal experience (check individual listings for specifics)
- Past environmental law experience or demonstrated commitment to public interest work is a plus, but not required

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range roughly $91,000–$125,000 USD per year, depending on experience and location
