Job title: Assistant(e) de laboratoire
Laboratory Assistant in Val-d'Or, supporting weighing room activities for ore and base metals analysis. You will follow established methods, ensure quality, and perform routine instrument maintenance.
What You'll Do
- Work in the weighing room for ore and base metals analysis.
- Use correct methods per ordinances and established procedures, ensuring analytical quality.
- Perform sponge method; weigh bullion; weigh pyro-analysis samples; weigh LECO samples; weigh liquids on-site; organize samples in the warehouse; maintain order in the digestion and weighing rooms; follow the published MON for weighing room training; tare and mix digestion vial samples; measure specific gravity; locate sample boxes for weighing; remove boxes for storage after analyses; perform routine instrument maintenance and cleaning; apply products and methods correctly; be familiar with all safety rules for the laboratory and sample preparation; other tasks as assigned by the supervisor(s).
What We're Looking For
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to weigh at least 600 samples per 12-hour shift.
- Prepare and present information in an organized and instructive manner.
- Excellent communication in French (written and verbal); English would be an asset.
- Quality-focused; detail-oriented.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment; ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Safety-conscious; highly motivated, autonomous, and able to work in a team.
Nice to Have
- English language skills would be an asset.
