About the Role University of the Pacific, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor of PA Studies. The University seeks a collaborative faculty member to join a Physician Assistant Program recognized for its stellar reputation, unique curriculum, and strong commitment to professional growth. The PA Program faculty are integral in all activities of the program and participate in many areas by instruction and by example, including providing all aspects of didactic education for the Program. While teaching is the primary focus, faculty members’ workload also includes scholarship and service. The Program is committed to strengthening the profession through developing and supporting collaborative research and continued education through obtaining advanced degrees, with financial support available for doctoral study.

What You'll Do

  • Advising and mentoring students, course coordination, classroom teaching, participation in course assignments and student assessment, developing student objectives, participating in lab sessions, performing clinical site visits, and assisting with clinical site evaluation.
  • Establishing a personal program of scholarly activity.
  • Participation in department meetings, college and university committees, and state and/or national organizations.
  • Participation in the ARC-PA continuing accreditation process.
  • Participation in the admissions process.
  • Clinical: opportunities exist for release time to perform clinical work in the PAs area of expertise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum Qualifications: Graduate from an ARC-PA-accredited PA program, accredited NP program, or MD/DO program; Master’s degree in PA studies or other discipline; Current NCCPA certification or discipline-specific national certification; state licensure in California (or licensure eligibility); minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience as a PA, NP, or MD/DO.
  • Preferred Qualifications: DMSc, PhD, DHSc, MD/DO or equivalent; proficiency in Medical Spanish; proficiency in POCUS; experience with advanced technical procedures (intubation, lumbar puncture, central lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis); academic experience in Physician Assistant education; strong desire for personal growth as an educator; involvement in professional education beyond the school; intermediate to advanced MS Office skills; ability to work in diverse settings.
  • Additional attributes: sincere commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service; ability to engage and learn from students across curriculum; interest in professional organizations and leadership roles.

Nice to Have

  • DMSc, PhD, DHSc, MD/DO or equivalent; Medical Spanish and POCUS proficiency; experience with advanced procedures; extensive academic PA education experience; demonstration of social justice, equity, and inclusion in academic settings; willingness to participate in professional education beyond the school.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring Range: $130,000 - $140,000 per year.
