About the Role The Assistant/Associate Director focuses on domestic first-year undergraduate recruitment and admissions counseling in a designated territory, with cross-recruitment to other markets. The role includes establishing and strengthening a recruitment territory, representing LIU to school counselors, prospective students and families, evaluating applications, and contributing to admissions events and projects. The position is remote with daily/weekly travel to LIU campuses as needed.
What You'll Do
- Meet enrollment goals and counsel prospective students in person, by phone, virtually or via e-mail regarding LIU programs and admissions procedures.
- Represent LIU at high school college fairs, visits, instant decision days, open houses, and other recruitment events; extensive overnight travel is required.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, conduct interviews, and guide prospective students and families.
- Establish and develop contacts with high schools, community organizations, and recruitment partners; provide outreach materials to prospective students.
- Assist with planning and execution of on- and off-campus events for students and counselors.
- Review applications and render admissions and scholarship decisions; provide regular outreach from inquiry through enrollment.
- Serve as liaison to Academic Deans and campus partners on current initiatives and new programs.
- Prepare reports for the Director of National Recruitment; monitor status of applicants, activities, and projects.
- Develop recruitment strategy and territory schedules; target schools, set goals, track progress, and evaluate future targets.
- Recommend marketing and outreach strategies to enhance LIU’s visibility to counselors and students; create and send communications.
- Foster relationships with high school counselors; participate in regional/national counseling associations; present LIU to schools and communities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- A master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field is preferred.
- Experience in Admissions or a related field is highly desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Prior experience using PeopleSoft and ImageNow is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills; positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically; this is a remote role with travel within the United States; flexible hours including evenings/weekends.
Nice to Have
- Experience with cross-market recruitment (International, Transfer and Graduate Admissions) for LIU’s Post, Brooklyn and Global campuses.
- Knowledge of U.S. secondary schools and international educational systems.
- Experience planning and presenting at school counselor associations and admissions events.
- Experience analyzing and reporting admissions data.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $66,300 - $70,000 per year (USD).
- Remote position with travel to LIU campuses and within the United States; flexible hours as needed.
